A man in Muar was sentenced to eight years in prison and two strokes of caning after exposing his 14-year-old daughter

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — A fruit seller in Muar was sentenced to eight years in prison and two canes for flashing his 14-year-old daughter.

Sessions Court Judge Sayani Mohd Nor handed down the sentence after the 52-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge. New Straits Times.

Allegedly, the father of two children opened fire on his daughter coming out of the bathroom of their house in October, witnessed by his wife and other child, who were eating at the time.

A criminal complaint was made to the police and the man was arrested the same day.

Police investigation revealed that the man had videotaped his children on multiple occasions.

He was charged with non-physical sexual assault of a child and an offense against a person in a relationship of trust under Sections 15(a)(1) and 16 of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act.

Under Section 15(a)(1), he could face up to 10 years imprisonment or a RM20,000 fine if convicted, while Section 16 added a five-year imprisonment and at least two strokes of the cane. .

While the unrepresented man pleaded for leniency, citing his blind father’s caring duties, Deputy Attorney General Danial Munir was leading the investigation.

The court sentenced him to six years under Article 15(a)(1) and two years plus caning under Article 16.

He was ordered to receive counseling during his incarceration and to be under police supervision upon release.
