Aiken’s daughter allegedly threw bleach into her mother’s eyes along with the children

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – A girl has been accused of throwing bleach into her mother’s eyes while two children were present in Aiken, according to authorities.

Aiken Public Safety Officers said around 1:08 p.m., Nov. 3, they responded to the 1300 block of Triple Tree Lane for a disturbance.

Officers said they found the victim sitting upright in a chair in the driveway with the help of a neighbor. They said they immediately noticed that the victim’s eyes were swollen shut and that there was a very strong smell of bleach.

Officers said the victim’s clothes were stained with bleach and the victim said her daughter had attacked her.

When officers interviewed the suspect, Kissante Sanders, 25, they said he also had bleach stains on the front of his shirt.

According to the report, Sanders stated that he was trying to wash the dishes and claimed that his mother started arguing with him and hit him on the arm to prevent him from using bleach in the dishwater.

The report stated that Sanders attacked his mother and threw bleach in her face, claiming it was self-defense.

Officers said Sanders also said his mother continued to fight with him, but did not say what caused his mother’s eyes to swell and close. He repeated that he was fighting only in self-defense.

When officers entered the apartment, they said the “odor of bleach was very intense and strong,” according to the report.

Officers said they later found two teenagers in the living room and moved them away from the danger area.

Officers stated that they called emergency services to assess the condition of both the children and the victim.

The victim was transported to ARMC for further treatment and the teens were released into police care, according to the report.

The report also stated that police officers noticed bleach on the teenager’s clothes and that he smelled of bleach.

According to authorities, Sanders was arrested on charges of first-degree assault and battery due to the potential for great bodily injury to the victim’s eyes.

Authorities stated that the presence of bleach in the victim’s eyes and the potential for ingestion throughout the incident could have caused permanent vision loss or visual impairment and damage to internal organs.

Authorities said Sanders is wanted by the NCIC and is wanted by the Blackville Police Department. He was then transported directly to the Aiken County Detention Center.

Officers returned to speak with the victim after Sanders was taken into custody.

The report stated that the victim told the police that he was talking to his mother on the phone in his room and that he left his room and went to the kitchen.

Officers said Sanders told her he attacked her with bleach and pushed her to the ground. He punched her repeatedly in the face and head area.

She also claimed Sanders grabbed her by the hair and began slamming her face into the ground. The bleach caused Sanders to vomit on the victim, but Sanders continued the attack, according to the report.

Sanders was also charged with two counts of unlawful conduct against a child due to an unreasonable risk of harm affecting the safety of both children, authorities said.
