More details emerge about Augusta shooting in which 15-year-old boy was killed

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The report into the shooting death of 15-year-old Devayn Grissam has been released following the arrest of a suspect in the case, authorities told us Tuesday.

Officials said they responded about a gunshot victim in the 2300 block of Helsinki Drive around 6:21 p.m..

Grissam, of Augusta, suffered at least one gunshot wound, deputies said. According to the report, the man was taken to the hospital and later died at 19.07.

Ricky Antwacious Holmes, 19, was arrested Friday, according to jail records.

Arrest warrants state Holmes exchanged gunfire, striking Grissam in the torso and causing his death.

“He took a piece of me. Yeah, definitely. He took a piece of me, and I don’t know if I can heal from it, you know,” said Telisha Grissam, Devayn’s aunt.

Holmes is charged with murder, according to jail records.

Records show Holmes is being held in the Richmond County jail
