No suspects in fatal shooting in Birmingham, man killed on porch

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) – A homicide that occurred Monday is under investigation in Birmingham.

ABC 33/40 News confirms the Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 1600 block of 5th Street North, near the intersection of 16th Court North. This area is just north of the I-65/I-20 interchange.

Police identified the man as 20-year-old Amauria Caffey.

Investigators said just before 12:15 p.m., police officers responded to the area after reports of multiple shots fired. Before officers arrived, dispatchers learned that a person had been shot. Coffey was found on the front porch of a home in the area. Investigators believe he was involved in a fight at the home when he was shot. No suspects are in custody.
