In addition to the standard model Tenere 700, a low-seat version and the long-suspension Tenere 700 Rally are also available. In the style of Yamaha’s contemporary rally racers, there is a new headlight design consisting of four individual LED light units stacked within an aluminum structure.

Adding to this are two new color schemes; Standard and low seat height models come with a choice of Frozen Titanium or Yamaha’s Icon Blue. In terms of specifications, the Tenere 700’s engine and suspension have also been updated.

The 690cc-displacement Crossplane 2 (CP2) parallel twin engine continues with the addition of YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle), also known as ride-by-wire. YCC-T introduces the Tenere 700’s switchable throttle maps (Sport and Explorer), a first for the CP2 engine.

Meanwhile, the air intake duct is now shorter, allowing for a thicker torque curve lower down the rev range; This provides a particular advantage in off-road driving. The clutch actuation position on CP2 was moved forward and a protective cover was added to ensure that the clutch actuation point and protective cover did not interfere with the rider’s leg.

The internals of the transmission have been revised for smoother gear shifting. The number of convex dogs and concave dogs on the gears was increased from five to six between first and third gears to reduce shocks, while the dog angle in gears four through six was changed to reduce the impact when shifting in and out of gear. throttle.

While the seat height remains the same at 875 mm in the Tenere 700, this height is reduced to 850 mm in the low seat height model. The front part of the seat has now been cut narrower to increase driving comfort, and the fuel tank is now located lower for balanced weight distribution and better handling from all angles.

The Tenere 700’s new inverted forks are 43 mm diameter units and provide 210 mm of front wheel travel (190 mm on the low seat height version) and are fully adjustable. Compression and rebound damping characteristics can be fine-tuned by turning screws at either end of the forks, while 15mm of preload adjustability is new and easily accessed via the adjuster on each fork leg.

The rear suspension has been revised with links that increase the suspension stroke while maintaining the same travel as before, by 200 mm for the standard version and 180 mm for the low seat height model. The remote adjuster is designed to allow quick changes without the need for any tools; The oversized rubber bumper provides additional cushion in difficult driving conditions.

The new 6.3-inch TFT-LCD panel in the cockpit is inspired by rally raid road books and offers smartphone connectivity and integration of phone calls and messages, as well as music and turn-by-turn navigation via the Yamaha MyRide app. Control of functions is via the left handlebar pod.

Moving on to the Tenere 700 Rally, aimed at the hard-core dual-purpose rider, fully adjustable KYB upside-down forks providing 230mm of suspension travel were fitted. The rear adjustable monoshock also has 230mm of travel, giving the Tenere 700 Rally a ground clearance of 255mm, 15mm more than the standard Tenere 700.

There is also a 4 mm thick crankcase guard and lightweight titanium footrests, and the seat is specific to the Tenere 700 Rally. The seat provides a higher and more upright riding position and is thicker padded than the standard product, increasing the seat height to 910 mm.
