76ers star Joel Embiid will start receiving suspensions against LA Clippers

Even though I haven’t played in a match yet this season, Philadelphia 76ers Big man Joel Embiid has been at the center of many controversies. The latest one was handed a multi-game suspension by the NBA.

Recently, a local columnist took some photos of Embiid in one of his articles, while also talking about his deceased brother and his young son. The former MVP didn’t take it lightly as he reviewed the report following the Sixers’ practice on Friday. Allegedly, events reached their peak on Saturday night.

After the Sixers’ loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the same media member was in the postgame locker room. The two reportedly exchanged words and the All-Star center was accused of making physical contact with the reporter.

Hearing this news, the NBA launched its second investigation of the year against Embiid. That deal ended Tuesday when the league announced he would be given a three-game suspension. The statement made clear that Embiid would not begin pitching these games until he was eligible to play.

Later Tuesday evening, reports emerged about when Embiid’s suspension would begin. He is expected to play in the Sixers’ next two road games against the LA Clippers and Lakers, as well as Monday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets. This points to his possible debut in the team’s first NBA Cup game on November 12 against the New York Knicks.

This means the Sixers will be out of the lineup for at least the next week. The short-staffed roster opened the season with a 1-5 record, leaving its two stars behind. They got some reinforcements as Paul George made his debut against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.
