5 reasons why Emmerdale needs Robert Sugden more than ever

5 reasons why Emmerdale needs Robert Sugden more than ever

If there’s an old one Emmerdale The character we love hearing about is Robert Sugden (played by Ryan Hawley), and there are reasons why his name has come up once again in recent weeks.

Ross Barton (Michael Parr) explained Off-screen death of Rebecca White (Emily Head)directing her and Robert’s young son Seb to go and live with his aunt.

All this comes as a shock to Robert’s sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) and her ex-husband Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). Aaron couldn’t help but remember happier times spent with Robert and Seb, although the latter was currently dating Vic and Robert’s newfound half-brother John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

John felt like an outsider and Victoria encouraged him to talk to Aaron. This didn’t go well as Aaron didn’t want to talk about Robert.

She eventually started to open up but claimed she didn’t love Robert anymore. But John’s judgmental assessment of Robert’s murderous actions led Aaron to realize that John had no idea what he was talking about before kicking him out of his house.

John is unaware that Robert actually killed the man who raped Victoria. Although Robert is serving a 14-year prison sentence, he has already served five years, and it’s certainly believable in soapland that he could be released early.

Here RadioTimes.comWe explored exactly why Emmerdale needs Robert. So join us as we imagine what the iconic character could bring to the village after all these years.

5 reasons why Emmerdale needs Robert Sugden more than ever

1. Challenging John Sugden

We already He thought John might not be who he said he was – after all, there is no outside evidence that he is actually the son of the late Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby).

While it wouldn’t be out of character for Womanizer Jack to flirt once again, we’re not entirely convinced by John – even though he’s apparently now revealed who Aidan Moore is.

Whether it’s about her identity or her true intentions, she could still be lying, and Robert would be the perfect person to uncover the truth!

We also can’t ignore the fact that John follows an eerie path through events that replicate Aaron’s unforgettable relationship with Robert; from meeting on the country road to hiding in the barn – and there are many more parallels.

Was John somehow already aware of Aaron and Robert’s colorful past, or is the repeated story just a coincidence?

Whatever it is, something doesn’t quite feel right with John, and Robert is exactly the person we want to see make the move!

2. Reuniting with Aaron Dingle

Emmerdale has had one of soapland’s greatest love stories with ‘Robron’ and the love for the couple is still very much alive.

Although Robert and Aaron began as a truly toxic relationship, Robert later recovered and Aaron sought help for his mental health, leading them to create a stable and loving family unit.

While the couple was happily married, it was time for Robert to leave, and of course, realistically, they had to separate.

But Aaron’s loves since then lacked the depth and soulmate status he enjoyed with Robert; because of course they were the loves of each other’s lives.

If Robert was to return, finally reuniting with Aaron would have to be taken into account.

The partnership between Miller and Hawley certainly deserves to be revisited and RadioTimes.com even the readers Robron was chosen as the best soap couple of all time!

3. Raising son Seb White

Seb currently lives in Bristol Robert approved the move Shortly after Rebecca’s death. Victoria and Aaron were upset that they hadn’t been involved, and it seemed strange that Vic wasn’t at least briefed or asked to help care for Seb.

But if Robert returns and takes custody of Seb, order can be restored and the little boy can stay in touch with Rebecca’s family by regularly visiting his great-aunt and step-grandmother Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen). ) in Portugal.

Seb is an inherited character and it is a shame for him not to be a part of village life to carry on the family name. This can only happen full time if Robert can raise Seb full time.

4. Reconnecting with sister Victoria Sugden

Let’s face it, Victoria has become quite the lost soul in recent years! HE Brief romance with Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) was a pointless plot device and despite finding another brother in John (or is he?) he is still sidelined.

John wasn’t particularly interested in the family history Vic wanted to share, but he had a strong bond with Robert that he missed dearly.

Victoria was at her best when she was mischievously interfering in Robert’s life and regularly engaging in intimate relationships with him, and he needed extra stability around her.

Even when HE he wasn’t stable, Victoria kept him afloat; and these days Victoria needs more fun in her lackluster life.

5. Revive the Sugden dynasty

Between the awkwardness of John’s presence, Victoria’s lack of screen time and her niece Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) barely acknowledging that she’s a member of Emmerdale’s original clan, the show needs Robert to return the Sugdens to their former glory It is clear that it is.

It’s hard not to wonder what the point of bringing John on board was right now. like that Jack’s son needs more than Victoria by his side.

One way or another, Robert could rekindle what made the Sugdens so beloved, thanks to the strong family ties that were sadly missing.
