Sources: 24-year-old man injured in suspected accidental shooting on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, NY— A 24-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound in New Springville Wednesday morning, according to the NYPD.

Police are investigating whether the licensed gun owner accidentally shot himself, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Officers responded around 2:38 a.m. to the vicinity of Glenn Road, where a 24-year-old man was found shot once in his left leg. He was taken by EMS to the University of Richmond Medical Center in West Brighton in stable condition, according to a spokesperson for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
