Confessions of men accused of Tristan Sherry’s ‘savage’ Christmas Eve steakhouse murder – The Irish Times

Three young men accused of the “savage” murder of gunman Tristan Sherry in a crowded Dublin steakhouse last Christmas Eve have made a series of confessions aimed at speeding up their case.

Noah Musueni, 18, Michael Andrecut, 22, and David Amah, 18, formally pleaded not guilty to Sherry’s murder in a three-judge, non-jury Special Criminal Court on Wednesday morning. The court heard a hooded Sherry entered Browne’s Steakhouse with his face covered and shot and killed Jason Hennessy Snr, before being dragged to the ground moments later.

Prosecuting barrister Fiona Murphy SC opened the hearing by saying Sherry had been subjected to “savage levels of violence”. He said the prosecution aimed to prove that each of the three murder defendants used unlawful violence with the intent to kill or cause serious injury and that Sherry died as a result.

After opening statements, lawyers for all three admitted their clients were at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown when Sherry died.

They also accepted that Sherry died as a result of injuries sustained during the violence at the steakhouse and that the defendants were correctly identified in CCTV footage of the fatal incident relied upon by the prosecution.

There were further admissions that the arrest of the three was lawful, that exhibits, DNA samples and fingerprints were seized, and that the crime scene was properly preserved.

Four men are accused of murdering Tristan Sherry at Browne’s Steakhouse, Main Street, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, on December 24, 2023.

The three people currently on trial are: Noah Musueni (18), Corduff Park, Blanchardstown; David Amah (18), Hazel Grove, Portrane Road, Donabate, Dublin; and Michael Andrecut (22), Sheephill Avenue, Blanchardstown.

Wayne Deegan (26), of Linnetsfield Avenue, Phibblestown, Dublin 15, is also charged with murder but is awaiting the report of a neuro-psychologist and will be tried at a later date.

Jonas Kabangu, 18, of Corduff Park, Blanchardstown, and Diarmuid O’Brien, 18, of Corduff Place, Blanchardstown, are also charged with violent disorder at the same location on the same date. Brandon Hennessy (21), of Sheephill Avenue, Dublin 15, is also charged with violent disorder.

Not all defendants pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Jaures Kumbu, 18, of Brookhaven Grove, Blanchardstown, previously pleaded guilty to removing the submachine gun Sherry used to kill Hennessy from the scene. The gun could not be recovered.
