Rain expected in some areas over the next few days

We’re seeing some rain in the Forecast this morning as showers move inland along the Atlantic Coast.

This is not the main rainmaker for the next 2 days, but it is sure to wet some spots.

Hurricane Raphael will be responsible for the rain we will see today through tomorrow, but the totals are greatly reduced due to the High Pressure area over Florida acting as a “blocker” and pushing this Hurricane northwestward, further away from our west coast. It’s a good sign for us.

If you’re wondering, there are 3 factors contributing to the potential weakening of this storm: increased vertical shear in the Gulf, drier air, and cooler water temperatures

Rain from Raphael will be a big problem for Southern FL and will be a problem for us as well.

In general, areas like Waycross, Homerville and Valdosta will see the highest totals, while Jacksonville Proper and eastern areas will see much less rain.
