Stranger Things 5’s episode titles have been officially confirmed, but what does Camazotz mean and who is missing? Here’s what we know.

This is a CODE RED! Stranger Things 5 The episode titles have just been revealed and the theories are going into overdrive.

Stranger Things 5, The film, which has been confirmed to be released in 2025, is getting closer, but its plot and ending are obviously still largely secret.

To celebrate Stranger Things Day (November 6, if you know!), Netflix has finally revealed all eight episodes of the final season, giving fans the latest on what to expect. (WHO Disappearance? What does Camazotz mean? ‘The Rightside Up’ final episode? I’m crying!)

Fans are now delving into each episode’s titles, what they might mean, and who they might be connected to. Thanks to a few behind-the-scenes photos and videos, we have some clues as to what might happen. An in-depth look at everything we know about episode 5 so far, based on the episode titles.

What does Camazotz mean? Stranger Things Season 5?

Stranger Things 5 episode names revealed

Season 5 Episode 1: The Crawl

The episode title for the first episode of season 5 was previously revealed, and fans immediately flooded the internet with theories about what it could mean.

The title could refer to a ‘dungeon crawl’, as the plot of the series is heavily influenced by the lore and gameplay of Dungeons & Dragons. In the game, a walkthrough sees the heroes “navigating a maze environment, fighting various monsters, avoiding traps, solving puzzles, and looting whatever treasure they can find.”

As we know, a giant portal to the Upside Down has been revealed in Hawkins, so could we see the characters start crawling their own dungeons to track down Vecna, who has disappeared into the Upside Down?

The Duffer Brothers said things will be “moving pretty quickly” when the season starts, which could indicate a high-stakes opening.

Season 5 Episode 2: The Vanishing of (Corrected)

The exact episode title, which refers to the first episode titled ‘The Vanishing of Will Byers’, has not yet been revealed by Netflix, but fans have theorized that it could be about Nancy and Mike’s younger sister, Holly Wheeler.

In the first teaser for season 5, Holly (currently played by Nell Fisher) can be seen screaming in terror as something terrible unfolds in the Wheeler home, but it is currently unclear whether what she saw was real or whether she was under Vecna’s influence.

We won’t know for sure who disappeared until Netflix confirms the full episode title.

Season 5 Episode 3: Turnbow Trap

If you’re locked in Ross Duffer’s house Instagram’s behind-the-scenes transcriptsThen ‘Turnbow’ may remind some things. In March 2024, Ross had posted an image of a billboard featuring a poster promoting ‘Turnbow Land Development & Realty’.

So far, there is very little information about the Turnbow family or the company, as they have not been mentioned in previous seasons. Now that the Upside Down has spread to Hawkins, it’s unclear whether the billboard is in the Upside Down or whether the vines in the real world have taken over.

As for the ‘Trap’ part of the title? Well, it sounds like it could be pretty self-explanatory… Could someone be setting a trap to capture someone (or anyone else) using the Turnbow property?thing) Another?

Season 5 Episode 4: The Sorcerer

Marking the midpoint of the final season, ‘The Magician’ could be an interesting and important episode.

In Dungeons & Dragons, a mage is a playable character class who is a master of arcane spells, widely considered the most powerful form of D&D magic.

In the series, the Hand is referred to as a Warlock by the Party due to his powers, and Will is a Priest with the ability to cast magic. Since Will’s connection to the Upside Down has been at the forefront of the final season, the episode title could possibly indicate that his powers have increased and he has become more powerful than the Cleric character. This may also point to the stronger powers of El, or even Vecna.

A major fan theory that has emerged is the potential return of Kali (aka 008). Much like El, Kali shares a similar power to Vecna, with which she can create powerful illusions. If he returns, can he have the title of mage?

He also has a 1977 action-thriller film titled ‘The Sorcerer’ that he can reference. The plot depicts “four outcasts of various origins assigned to transport old, poorly preserved cargoes of dynamite that are so unstable that they ‘sweat out’ its dangerous base ingredient, nitroglycerin.”

As always Stranger Things chapters, the title will likely have a double meaning.

Season 5 Episode 5: Shock Jock

Again, Ross Duffer’s BTS posts can give us some clues on this subject. WSQK Radio Station will play a key role in the new season as the Hawkins team’s base of operations. This location is featured quite heavily in the season 5 teaser, and it appears to be where the Byers family, including El and Hopper, currently live.

“Shock Jock” is a term used for a radio DJ who “expresses opinions in a deliberately offensive or provocative manner.” Jock himself can also refer to any number of ‘jock’ characters from Hawkins High. It’s possible that Jason’s friends will seek some form of revenge following his death.

Season 5 Episode 6: Escape from Camazotz

‘Camazotz’ has two references that are key Stranger Things 5. The first of these is the obvious D&D reference…

Camazotz is the god of bats and evil in the Greyhawk campaign setting. Of course, the Demobats played a major role in season 4 and were the reason why Eddie died. The Upside Down is teeming with them, and they’re all part of the Mindflayer’s hive mind.

However, the title seems to refer to Camazotz as a place rather than a person. Stranger Things the authors confirmed this Season 5 inspired A Wrinkle in Timeand in this story, Camazotz is a planet controlled by evil beings. The humans living on the planet move and behave in similar, mechanical ways because they are controlled by an entity called BT. (Mind Flayer gives it!)

We’ll have to wait and see what happens Stranger ThingsCamazotz’s version.

Season 5 Episode 7: The Bridge

I have no idea about this; Your guess is as good as ours! Could the title potentially hint at a bridge between the real world and The Upside Down? Or could the Bridge be a real person connecting the two? Maybe Will or El?

Or potentially even Max, who is now brain dead and blind, and whose consciousness now seemingly belongs to Vecna? We’ll have to wait for further confirmation on Max’s condition, but it looks like his mind and physical body are now in two different dimensions.

Discussing the significance of Max being in a coma, Matt Duffer said: Netflix Enthusiast: “We went and broke season 5. So season 5 and him being in a coma. I can’t get into the details, but it’s important that it does. And it’s going to have a huge impact on 5. This isn’t a ‘gimmick’, it’s incredibly relevant to 5.”

We will need more information on this subject before diving further into these theories.

Season 5 Episode 8: The Rightside Up

And finally, the final episode of the series… perfectly Titled ‘Right Side Up’. Details about what will happen in the last episode Stranger Things They’re understandably under tight lockdown, but the episode title definitely hints that the Upside Down will finally be defeated by the end of the show.

Interestingly, the final episode title of season 5 mirrors the final episode title of season 1: ‘The Upside Down’. At the end of season 1, we see Eleven sacrifice herself to save her new friends by destroying the Demogorgon. We later discover that he transported himself to the Upside Down and was only able to escape thanks to a small door left behind.

For the Upside Down to be truly defeated in the real world, all portals and gates must be closed. The title of the episode certainly implies that this could happen… but at what cost?!
