Jameson Williams returns to Detroit Lions practice: ‘I was always the same person.’

After a two-week suspension, Jameson Williams returned to training. Detroit Lions.

“What did I learn?” Williams asked rhetorically on Wednesday, lions‘locker room. “I think to get smarter. Act smarter. Be a bigger person in certain situations and things like that. So I would say those would be the main, big things.”

Williams was suspended for two weeks for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy. He did not explain what triggered the suspension.

“I don’t really want to address such issues,” he said. “It’s all on the internet. People already have their own perspectives and things like that, but I stay away from talking about that stuff.”

Lions coach Dan Campbell said he believes Williams will learn from this suspension.

“I think any time you’re not playing this game, you’re always going to think about it, and it just helps you look at it from a different perspective,” Campbell said. “Because it hurts, it hurts not to play, and having no one to blame but yourself makes you look at yourself a little harder. And so he’ll get better, I really believe that, and I believe he’ll learn from it. I think he – I mean he was there today, during our trip. He’s locked in and ready to go.” , so I think he’ll come out of this on top.”

Campbell’s unwavering support “means a lot” to Williams.

“This is my head coach,” Williams said. “I went through a lot playing under him, and in some cases we collided head-on, but now I see that he trusts me and I know he understands what’s going on. So it’s very important for me that he believes in me, that he is with me in these situations.”

While suspended, Williams was allowed to attend meetings and train but could not do anything on the field with the team.

“I’m fine,” he said. “It was only two weeks, you know, I’ve been suspended before and I don’t really see it as a good thing or something to brag about, but no, I’ve had to miss time before, you know, I’ve always been the same person.”

Williams said he was encouraged by the support from his teammates.

“They are my brothers,” Williams said. “When your brothers and sisters fall, you must pick them up when they fall, just as I do for others.”

During the penalty, Williams was like other Lions fans; At least those who couldn’t buy tickets.

He watched the Lions beat the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers on television.

“I watched the games from the crib with my little brother,” Williams said Wednesday. “I watched both games. It was just fun. I was thinking, I can’t wait until I get back on the field with the guys and play ball with them. I miss the guys, I miss training and stuff like that.”

Williams is familiar with new Lion Za’Darius Smith.

The Lions traded Smith from the Cleveland Browns.

Williams saw him play. But not in person.

Only in a video game.

“I know a lot of people in the NFL who play Madden,” Williamson said of the video game. “He was causing trouble in the Madden game. So I really, really pray that he will come and help us a lot. I know you will.”
