Is Khalil Herbert playing this week? Bengals RB’s Week 10 vs. Latest news and updates on Ravens game

With Zack Moss sidelined indefinitely with a neck injury, the Bengals added running back Khalil Herbert to help fill out the depth chart. Even though Chase Brown is the primary running back on offense, Herbert needs to get opportunities in Cincinnati’s backfield.

Herbert sits behind Chase Brown and Trayveon Williams on the Bengals depth chart, but could move up as Herbert becomes more comfortable on offense.

The Sporting News looks at Herbert’s status for this week’s game against the Ravens.

Is Khalil Herbert playing this week?

It’s unclear how much time Herbert will play, as the Bengals are on a short week this week and will play the Ravens on Thursday night. But the running back participated in practice after the trade was completed on Tuesday and was at least healthy enough to be ready for the game.

Head coach Zac Taylor left the door open for Herbert to play this week.

“We’ll see where it goes,” Taylor said. “I can’t take this off the table.”

Quarterback Joe Burrow said Herbert needed to be able to pivot so quickly to help his new teammate as much as possible.

“He stands next to me and doesn’t know what to do” burrow said. “I lean down and tell him he’s right next to me.”

For the first three years of his career, Herbert was a steady part of the Bears offense; He started 12 games and totaled 1,775 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. This year, however, the Bears relied on D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson at running back; Herbert dropped to third place and even had a healthy scratch at times.

Veteran running back Zack Moss suffered a neck injury in practice last week. This could force him to miss the rest of the season. This opens the door for Herbert to get more playing time with the Bengals than he did with the Bears.
