Bollywood’s superstar Shah Rukh Khan has recently become the latest high-profile celebrity to receive a death threat. Following a series of similar threats against actor Salman Khan, an unidentified person reportedly contacted Shah Rukh Khan, demanding a ransom of 50 lakh rupees. The threat call led to quick action by the police as the Mumbai Police registered an extortion case and were actively following leads.

Details of the threat

According to Mumbai Police, the call threatening Shah Rukh Khan came to Bandra Police Station on November 7. The caller demanded that Khan pay Rs 50 lakh to avoid any damage. In response, police authorities registered a case under Sections 308(4) and 351(3)(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to extortion involving death threats and criminal intimidation.

Preliminary investigations traced the call to Raipur in Chhattisgarh. Although there is no official confirmation on the identity of the caller, reports indicate that the police in Raipur have been alerted and have tipped off a person named Faiyaz Khan who may be linked to the threat.
