1 dead in wrong-way crash on I-17 near Jefferson Street in Phoenix

PHOENIX – One person was killed and two others were injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 17 near Jefferson Street in Phoenix early Thursday morning.

The collision occurred around 2 a.m. in northbound traffic.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials told ABC15 crews at the scene that the crash was fatal and that the person killed was believed to be the wrong-way driver.

Two people in the other vehicle involved in the accident were seriously injured.

The road, which was closed for a few hours, was reopened at around 05:00 in the morning.
