Detroit-area women receive ‘plantation group’ messages amid nationwide wave of racist messages

Women all over the country are receiving messages saying they have been chosen to pick cotton.

Multiple women in the Detroit area contacted FOX 2 this week after receiving racist and harmful messages telling them they had been chosen to “pick cotton from the nearest field.”

FOX 2 first received a call from a woman we identified only as Renee from the Detroit area around 9:50 pm Wednesday night. Renee contacted FOX 2 about an hour ago after receiving the text saying she had been selected to pick cotton. and be ready at 10am

“Good day Renee! You have been chosen to pick cotton from the nearest plantation. Be ready at 10 am with all your personal belongings and belongings because you will never see them again.
We will pick you up in a white bus. You will be checked for drugs and other substances! Once here, you will be brought to the area you designed. You are in group 10B”.

Renee wasn’t the only person who reached out to FOX 2. Just 10 minutes later, another woman sent a similar message from a different number.

“Greetings. You have been selected to pick cotton from the nearest plantation. Be ready with your SHARP belongings on NOVEMBER 13, 12:00. Our Executive Slaves will put you in a Brown Van, be ready to be searched when you enter the plantation. You are in Plantation Group D.”

Renee will speak to FOX 2’s Scott Wolchek about the messages later Thursday.

Both messages were received on Wednesday, the day after the election.

But we also learned that Detroit-area women weren’t the only ones receiving these awful messages. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that women received similar messages. about a potential threat from white supremacists and KKK members.

It is currently unknown who sent the text messages or why they did so.
