Stephens wants the charges dismissed and Young, who transferred from Miami, be allowed to continue full team activities and play in games. Young was given an indefinite one-day suspension after his arrest following a meeting with coach Kirby Smart.

Reached by the Athens Banner-Herald, Georgia executive assistant athletic director Steven Drummond reiterated what the school said after the arrest: “This is a pending legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Young has a hearing in the case scheduled for Dec. 10 in State Court.

Athens-Clarke County Attorney Will Fleenor did not respond to a request for comment.

Stephens said the alleged victim contacted him and asked to issue a public statement because his demands for termination were not met.

Athens-Clarke County Police arrested Young after the 20-year-old woman said she had a “heated argument” at his apartment where he went to talk about their relationship and learned Young was on the phone with another woman.

The police incident report states that Young said he “grabbed her left arm near her bicep and triceps and physically dragged her out of her room.” When a friend called her phone, Young grabbed her from behind and told police she picked him up and started talking. squeezing his torso and abdomen very hard.

Police said he had bruising and discoloration on his lower chest and a rash on his right side.

But in a notarized statement on Wednesday, the woman said: “Colbie did not put his hands on me in any way that was inappropriate or unwanted during the conversation or argument. He didn’t hit me. He didn’t force me. It didn’t leave any bruising or scarring on me. He didn’t harm me in any way. “To be clear, Colbie Young did not commit any act of violence against me or my unborn child, including but not limited to simple battery or assault on the unborn child.”

Young has missed three games since his indefinite suspension. He had 11 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns this season.

Georgia has four regular season games remaining, including Saturday’s game against Ole Miss.
