Ms Hand, who is not automatically entitled to anonymity, accused Mr McGregor of pinning her to a bed and raping her in a hotel bedroom. Dublin.

A recording of a conversation between Ms Hand and her ex-partner after she arrived home from the Beacon Hotel where she claimed she had been raped was played at the Dublin High Court.

Miss Hand, a former hair dyer from Drimnagh, refused to tell her former partner who attacked her that she had been raped and strangled three times.

In the recording, the court heard his ex-partner told Ms Hand that he “didn’t care who warned or threatened” him and that he was going to the guards.

She can be heard crying throughout the 40-minute recording as she describes how her body was in pain and how she couldn’t breathe when she was allegedly attacked.

Ms Hand also told her former partner she couldn’t tell him who was there “because he said he was going to kill me”.

Ms Hand listened to the recording in the witness box and was visibly upset and shaking with her head in her hands.

On her third day of giving evidence at Dublin High Court, Ms Hand was cross-examined by Mr McGregor’s defense lawyer, Remy Farrell SC.

Mr Farrell told Ms Hand that she was the one who followed Mr McGregor to the hotel bedroom on the rooftop of the Beacon Hotel and they began kissing before she took off her clothes.

She denied claims that she had consensual sex with Mr McGregor twice and was “enthusiastic” about it.

Ms Hand described the details presented to her as a “made-up story”.

Earlier, Ms Hand also denied claims that CCTV footage showing her entering and leaving the Beacon Hotel in south Dublin “contradicted” her account of what happened.

The mother-of-one was distressed and shaking as she was questioned by Mr Farrell.

CCTV footage from the evening of 9 December 2018 was replayed to the court and showed Ms Hand in the lift with her friend Mr McGregor and the second defendant, James Lawrence.

‘HARD TO WATCH’

Ms Hand told the court she had no recollection of the footage and found it “very difficult to watch”.

The court was also told Ms Hand deleted her text messages following the alleged attack and asked some of her friends and family to delete the text messages.

Ms Hand said she did this because she was “scared for her life”.

IT WAS COURTED WITH TEARS

Ms Hand burst into tears when asked to re-watch some CCTV footage from the evening of the alleged assault.

He told the court: “It was very difficult to watch and I don’t want to go through that again.

“I can’t remember. This is not me and it is not my character. You can see how vulnerable I am. I don’t want to have to look again.

“It’s me, but that’s not my character. This is very disturbing to me.”

Mr Farrell told Ms Hand that the reason this bothered him was because “everything in the CCTV footage contradicts the story you told”.

However, Ms. Hand told the lawyer that she did not agree with him.

‘HE WAS RAPED AND TREATED’

He added: “This CCTV footage does not change what happened to me in that room with Conor. I know what happened. “I was brutally raped and beaten by Conor and this CCTV does not take away what happened to me.”

Mr Farrell also claimed Ms Hand “kissed” Mr McGregor’s arm as they got into the elevator to leave the hotel room.

Ms. Hand said she did not remember what happened in the elevator.

Mr Farrell also claimed CCTV footage showed Ms Hand hugging Mr McGregor as they got into the lift, but Ms Hand said she could not see herself hugging him.

The evidence also shows that a phone call was made from Ms Hand’s phone after Mr McGregor left the hotel shortly before 6.30pm.

“This CCTV footage does not change what happened to me in that room with Conor. I know what happened. “I was brutally raped and beaten by Conor and this CCTV does not take away what happened to me.”

Mr Farrell asked the plaintiff why she wanted to “chat” to Mr McGregor, who she said had “brutally raped” her.

Ms Hand told the court she did not remember calling him and did not know why.

He said there was a lot of waiting before returning to his hotel room.

The case continues.
