7 days in prison for the suspect who stabbed father and daughter to death

GEORGE TOWN: The suspect who fatally stabbed a father and his daughter here was detained for seven days.

The 32-year-old man will remain in Penang Hospital until Thursday, November 14, where he will receive treatment for what police believe are self-inflicted injuries.

Police said in a statement on Friday, November 8, that the suspect’s condition was stable.

It was reported that the man was hospitalized after he was found with multiple stab wounds and cuts on his body on the ground floor of an apartment building in Bandar Baru Air Itam on Thursday, November 7.

2 people were found dead at the scene.

Both of these identified individuals, 30-year-old Siti Zulaila Zülkifli and her 62-year-old father Zülkifli İbrahim, were found with multiple stab wounds at around 13.15.

Siti Zulaila worked in a hardware store while her father was a driver.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for the crime of murder.

“We caught the suspect and seized the murder weapon.

“The case is considered resolved and we are now determining the cause,” he said.
