Lewistown man jailed on child rape charges | News, Sports, Jobs

LEWISTOWN — A 21-year-old man is in jail after police say he performed a sexual act on a 13-year-old boy.

Shaun Douglas Mellot, of Lewistown, was arraigned Tuesday before Magistrate District Judge Craig A. Weston on charges of two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault on a person under 16, two counts of statutory sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, indecent assault. and resisting arrest. In a separate case, Mellott was additionally charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure and sexual exposure to an animal.

According to the Probable Charge Affidavit, police were called to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital on Monday afternoon for a report of a 13-year-old boy.

While visiting another person at his home on West Fourth Street on Oct. 18, Mellott told the child to touch him inappropriately and then performed sexual acts on him, the report states.

The report states that Mellott performed a sexual act on the child for the second time on October 25.

During police interrogation on November 4, Mellott reportedly admitted to having sexual intercourse with the 13-year-old boy on two occasions.

In the second case, a 12-year-old boy told police that Mellott attempted to perform sexual acts on them. The boy also described another incident in which Mellott performed a sexual act on a dog.

Mellott is being held in the Mifflin County Jail and is unable to post $250,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. on Nov. 13.
