Papago Park murder investigation continues after body is found

PHOENIX – Homicide detectives were called after a man was found dead in Papago Park in Phoenix Thursday morning, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to the park at 600 N. Galvin Parkway, between McDowell Road and Van Buren Avenue, around 7:30 a.m.

The Phoenix Fire Department was already on the scene and pronounced the man dead. The victim’s name was not released.

“Due to the elements found at the scene, homicide detectives moved to take over the investigation,” said Sgt. Rob Scherer he said in a media advisory.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death.

No other details were offered. Murder investigation continues.

Papago Park It is a large recreation area with hiking trails and is home to the Phoenix Zoo and the Desert Botanical Garden.
