Brandon Thompson found guilty of murdering Kamil Milczarczyk

A man who stabbed another man to death in a “senseless” attack has been found guilty of murder.

Humberside Police said Kamil Milczarczyk, 24, was out for the night in Hull city center on March 24, 2023, when Brandon Thompson, 22, stabbed him in the chest following a large argument on Princes Dock Street.

Thompson, of Clanthorpe, Hull, denied murder and possession of the offensive weapon but was found guilty by a unanimous jury on Thursday. The man, who previously admitted accepting the violent order, is expected to be sentenced next month.

Ten others were acquitted of manslaughter but pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

After the hearing, Milczarczyk’s family paid tribute to an “amazing uncle with a big heart”, saying his death “changed our lives forever” and left them with “heartache and loss”.

Detectives said there was an “accidental shoulder bump” at a bar earlier in the evening.

Thompson and the other criminals went downtown to find people of interest.

Police said Mr Milczarczyk was not at the bar but was enjoying a night out with friends when he was attacked. He was found lying on the street just before 23:30 GMT.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Det Ch Insp Nicole Elliott said Mr Milczarczyk was “brutally attacked in a senseless act and gave up fighting for his life as the group fled”.

Following the stabbing, the suspects were captured on CCTV running from the scene, some entering a property on Grimston Street and leaving in several vehicles.

Det Ch Insp Elliott said CCTV captured Thompson wielding a knife during the attack and then throwing him into the water surrounding the Princes Quay shopping centre.

The weapon was seized.

Following Thompson’s conviction, Mr Milczarczyk’s family said: “No one deserves to die this way, alone, in such pain and suffering, and we will never understand why someone would commit such a horrific attack on him.

“Kamil was very young and his whole life was ahead of him. He always made time for people and had a big heart. “He would do anything for his family, he was a great uncle and leaves behind his nieces and nephews who miss him dearly.”

They said no verdict would “give the feeling that justice has been done.”
