Jersey restaurateur sentenced to 15 years in prison after rape conviction

A former restaurant owner in Jersey has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for assaulting one woman and raping, assaulting and sexually assaulting another woman.

Gavin Neil Roberts, 45, who co-owned the now-closed Shinzo in St Aubin, appeared at the island’s Crown Court for sentencing.

After an hour and a half of consideration, Jurats convicted Gavin Neil Roberts, 45, of 11 counts of offenses (three sexual offences, five of common or serious and criminal assault and three of voyeurism) occurring between 2018 and 2022.

Roberts clapped sarcastically when the verdict was announced.
