The FA said in a statement on Friday: “An Independent Regulatory Commission has issued a three-match touchline ban and a £7,500 fine to Darren Fletcher for misconduct during Manchester United’s Premier League match against Brentford on Saturday 19 October.” He gave the penalty.


“The FA alleged that the coach acted in an inappropriate and/or confrontational manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting language towards the fourth official and the referee and/or assistant referees around the tunnel area at half-time.

“Darren Fletcher admitted this misconduct but denied committing harassment. However, the Regulatory Commission found that this was proven and imposed its sanctions. The Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for its decisions will be published in due course.”
