Cornell Brown traveled from Tennessee to kill Texakana man convicted of capital murder

TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) – Cornell Brown was convicted after detectives discovered he traveled to Texarkana with the sole purpose of killing McFadden.

On Nov. 4, a jury found Cornell Brown guilty of capital murder and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2021 shooting death of Keith McFadden.

The incident occurred on September 20, 2021; Officers with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) responded to a shooting call in the area of ​​East 11th Street and California. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Keith McFadden suffering from a gunshot wound. Citizens, officers and LifeNet EMS attempted life-saving measures, but McFadden died from his injuries.

TAPD opened an investigation into the shooting and a suspect was identified: Cornell Brown, 33. Evidence against Brown was compiled and it was determined that he was brought to Texarkana from Memphis, Tennessee, for the sole purpose of killing McFadden.

An arrest warrant was issued for Brown, and he was arrested in Tennessee in October 2021 and later extradited to Texarkana, Arkansas.
