Ken Nichol’s epiphany comes full circle.

The third-generation race car driver, who was inspired to create a shock and damping system for alpine skis while watching a World Cup race a few years ago, is bringing his concept to the Birds of Prey event in December.

“The entire ShredShox started as an idea born out of a passion for downhill ski racing,” said Nichols in a press release. “Bringing ShredShox technology to Birds of Prey, with its advanced suspension and damping capabilities inspired by motorsport and mountain biking, is a huge milestone for us. “We are excited to share this evolution in ski performance with event attendees.”

ShredShox It is a patented, fully adjustable suspension system specially designed for snow skis. The lightweight, air spring style uses dual adjustable mountain bike shock absorbers and has both compression and rebound adjustments where skiers can apply boot pressure to the skis from the front and rear. Developed and manufactured in Indianapolis, Indiana, ShredShox’s plate is made of 100% high-strength carbon fiber; Compatible with nearly all skis and bindings, the entire attachment adds 2.4 pounds to the overall weight of the ski.

Benefits include improved cornering and stability as the added static pressure keeps the ski in constant contact with the snow. The suspension also provides a smoother ride and softer landing.

“The engineering and design is based on both form and function, offering high-performance suspension and damping technology for the most demanding chargers as well as those looking to increase their stability and reduce fatigue on their bodies,” said Nick Foster. founder and chief design officer. “Being able to bring this technology to a world-class event is a great next step for ShredShox.”

Interested ski enthusiasts will have the chance to test the world’s only full-suspension ski platform during public demonstrations at Beaver Creek Village, Dec. 6-8. To reserve an appointment slot, Visit ShredShox.com/calendar.

“We were excited to launch the ShredShox brand this summer. We’ve had incredible interest since then,” said Jarrod Krisiloff, brand president and part-time Vail resident.

“Given our racing background, there is no better place for consumers to get to know ShredShox and the exciting technology we are bringing to skiing,” Krisiloff continued. “I grew up skiing at Beaver Creek and can’t wait to see ShredShox bomb the Gold Dust.”
