Tallahassee teenager burglarized and stole 130 vehicles

Two suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing and stealing more than 100 vehicles this year.

20-year-old Jayquan Duncan and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested following a months-long investigation by the Property Crimes Task Force, which included the Tallahassee Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

Duncan was arrested on more than 130 counts of unarmed vehicle theft, several counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a TPD news release.

The 16-year-old was also arrested on more than 130 counts of unarmed vehicle theft, several counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle and grand larceny.

The task force launched a “rigorous investigation” in July after receiving numerous reports of vehicle theft and theft.

“During the investigation, detectives determined that two suspects had stolen vehicles in northwest Tallahassee and drove the vehicles into various neighborhoods to burglarize them,” TPD said. he said.

On Oct. 30, law enforcement officers responded to the 300 block of Hayden Road in response to “a suspect actively breaking into vehicles.”

The 16-year-old was taken into custody and the task force learned that he was linked to more than 130 vehicle thefts between July and October. Duncan was later identified and arrested Wednesday.
