Delhi High Court fines lawyer £10,000 for ‘outrageous slander’ against judge

bench of judges C Hari Shankar And Girish Kathpalia Review petition filed by advocate Ravi Kumar, who appeared in person to challenge the order passed against him in the employment matter, was dismissed

The court found “no apparent error in the record” that would warrant reviewing the earlier decision. The Court also took exception to the applicant’s conduct, describing his approach as an attempt to “discredit” the Court.

“No plaintiff, especially a lawyer who appears personally as a plaintiff, can be allowed to try to intimidate the court. Of course, the court should not be overly sensitive. However, if the plaintiff stubbornly continues to ignore such behavior despite the court repeatedly ignoring such behavior of the plaintiff and repeatedly advising him to limit his arguments to the merits of the case, the least the court should do is to put this behavior on record.” The court said this in its decision dated October 5.
