I'm Much More Excited About AEW Right Now, And There's A Few Big Reasons Why

I love AEW. That’s what brought me back to pro wrestling After years of ignoring it.

That said, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’ve grown tired of the brand over the past few years. I wrote Articles about what I think is wrong with AEWbut after being as enamored with the product as ever in recent weeks, I now want to write about everything I think is great about AEW!

‘Cause honestly, I’m super back to it all now title belt changesit’s also all-in when it comes to it (See what I did there?) upcoming PPVs. In other words I For this reason We’re coming back to AEW! Here’s why.

First of all, Bobby Lashley and the Hurt Syndicate Are a Big Thing

You know, the last time I watched WWEHurt Business was tearing him apart. Featuring MVP Shelton Benjamin Bobby Lashleyand Cedric Alexander, The Hurt Business were one of my favorite bands back in the ThunderDome days.

And then they weren’t. Shelton Benjamin leaves WWE in 2023, and MVP and Bobby Lashley’s contracts expire in 2024. On the other hand, Cedric Alexander is still with the company.

So when Shelton Benjamin debuted as MVP in AEW in early October, the idea of Bobby Lashley reuniting with his Hurt Business brothers seemed inevitable.

And at the end of October, dreams came true when Lashley became an All Elite on Fright Night Dynamite. When Swerve attacked StricklandI knew the Hurt Business was back in business.

But now they are the Harm Syndicate. Even so, it’s just a different name for a similar outfit.

And I love it so much. I once wrote about The best Tag Teams in AEWIt would be really cool if Lashley and Benjamin hit AEW hard as a duo. They bring a whole new energy to AEW that I haven’t felt in a very long time, and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for Full Gear later this month.

Heel Moxley is the Best Moxley

Jim Cornette doesn’t like Jon Moxleybut I do. While I don’t think I’ll ever consider Moxley a full face (just like I’ll never consider “Stone Cold” Steve Austin a full face), I always prefer to rate Mox as a full face. he is right now.

Moxley shocked his fans All Out When he attacked Bryan Danielson, he had a plastic bag over his head, which was an absolutely shocking scene. And now, he’s taking the Horsemen of Death (Formerly Blackpool Battle Club) to new heights, removing Danielson and adding Pac and Marina Shafir alongside Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli.

This is complete nonsense. I know there are people who like to compare The day after AEW to WCW (I don’t see it, but I know these people exist), but some kind of story To do see AEW’s imitation of WCW is the NWO saga, in which core wrestlers attempted to overtake the promotion and reshape it in their own image. The Death Riders did this all the time, but Danielson once had a foothold in the role that he wanted. to develop the rest of the locker room.

But Mox seems to have a plan to usurp the brand because he smells weakness in their ranks. He makes for a truly frightening heel, and it will be interesting to see how the Death Riders fare against other heel factions like The House of Black and, yes, the Hurt Syndicate. Will they adapt? I don’t know, but I’ll tune in every week to see how it all turns out.

Private Parti’s Winning the Team Championship Was So Deserved

I love Young Bucks. This might be an odd way to start, but I’ve always found them willing to put other wrestlers on if it’s best for the company. We’ve seen some interesting teams take the belts in the past, but I don’t think I ever thought Private Party would be the Tag Team Champions.

And I don’t know why because they always put in the effort. Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen never gave a bad performance and were always interesting (and fun!) to watch.

However, in this promotion they have become employers of sorts throughout their careers. For example, when Keith Lee debuted in AEW (Where was he by the way? I hope he’s okay), He manhandled the Private Party alone to immediately insert himself into the crowd.

Similarly, there are other examples where the Private Party was sent to be thrown to the wolves. So it was such a pleasant surprise to watch Private Party not only feud with The Young Bucks, but also defeat them.

I was happy when Acclaimed (the one everyone loves) became the Tag Team Champion, but I’m even happier that Private Party finally got his chance to shine. Just as the crowd chanted victory, they too “deserve it.” Oh, speaking of crowds…

The Crowd Is As Electric As Ever

One of the things that upsets me about AEW is the internet.

Yes I know, I know. I just have to watch the product and not let the naysayers and non-believers ruin my mood, but it’s hard when people post pictures of arenas that are underpopulated and have lots of empty seats.

Frankly, this situation took me away from my enthusiasm psychologically, because it made me think that AEW was on its last legs. That’s just one of the many reasons I’m there I’m worried about the brand.

But honestly, AEW is seemingly in a better place right now than I thought it would be. Signed an agreement with MAXand they don’t look like they’ll be boarding up their windows anytime soon.

What brings my hope back, however, are the dwindling crowds.

The fans seem as enthusiastic as ever, and while I’m not as excited about the promotion as I once was, the crowd never seems to stop getting excited. They still bring life to the company. All you have to do is listen.

I Feel Like AEW Finally Realized They Don’t Need To Compete With WWE Anymore And Are Now Doing Their Own Thing

Lastly, this is a big deal for me, but I feel like AEW is really coming into its own. I know this might sound weird since AEW is still acquiring former WWE stars, but I don’t know. There is something very different about the product that I now feel is tangible.

It could be where the plastic bag gets stuck on the head Thank you to Bryan Danielson for bringing me to this conclusion. I watched it recently Vince McMahon documentary on Netflixand while it brings me back to memories of how brutal WWE once was, I don’t think there’s ever been a time when WWE would allow a wrestler to do what Moxley did to Danielson.

So do I let my kids watch AEW? Absolutely not, even if my kids are smart, I would never want them to get the idea that putting a plastic bag over someone’s head is in any way safe. But, if anything, this brings me back to the old ECW days when it seemed like every spot could end a person’s career (if not their life).

I really think AEW has finally given up on the idea of being an alternative to WWE and instead decided they don’t have to compete with their biggest rivals. Their core audience is still here and they look like they’ll be around for the long term.
