Chicago police said the woman died and five people were injured in the wrong-way crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Hyde Park.

CHICAGO — A woman was killed and five people were injured in a wrong-way crash involving multiple vehicles on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Hyde Park.

Chicago police said the incident happened early Saturday at 3:10 a.m. near 53rd Street.

Police say a 20-year-old woman was driving a gray sedan with two northbound passengers in the southbound lane when they crashed into a white sedan with three passengers traveling southbound.

The collision caused the white sedan to strike another white sedan traveling southbound, police said.

The female driver of the gray sedan died at the hospital, police said. A female passenger was transported to Providence Hospital in serious condition.

The male driver of the first white sedan remains in serious condition at the U of C hospital. Police said two male passengers were also taken to the hospital.

CPD said the male driver of the third vehicle was taken to the hospital with head and neck injuries.

Traffic tickets are expected, police said.
