Police said the incident took place on Friday at Rasoolpur Kelora village in Khatauli district of Muzaffarnagar district over a money dispute.

The unfortunate woman, Himanshi, was a resident of Muhammadour Shakista village in Behsuma district of Meerut district. He was living in his uncle Bharatveer’s house for more than two years after the death of his father Anil Choudhary.

Ramashish Yadav, circle officer in Khatauli district, said Himanshi and her mother sold 22 beegha land and hid the money and jewelery in Bharatveer. They had also built a house in Khatauli and were staying in Bharatveer and Khatauli houses.

Himanshi married Behsuma’s friend Vineet Kumar from Mod Sadarpur village on October 10. Bharatveer and his sons Mukul and Ankush were unhappy with his palace marriage and it was decided to hold their marriage on 12 November.

Himanshi and Vineet had planned to go shopping on Friday and Himanshi asked her uncle for the money she had kept with her. This led to an argument between them and Bharatveer allegedly shot her dead.

Villagers who heard the gunshot called 112 and the police removed the body from a car. Allegedly, Bharatveer and his sons were carrying the body in a car to dispose of it, but they fled after seeing the police team.

“A named FIR has been registered against Bharatveer and his sons at Khatauli police station and raids are being conducted to arrest them,” the CO said.

Meanwhile, Himanshi’s body has been sent for autopsy.
