Spartanburg man arrested on multiple sex crime charges with minors

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in September on multiple charges involving sexual conduct with a minor.

Investigators say they assisted the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina by obtaining an arrest warrant for a Spartanburg resident on charges of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

During that investigation, Ian Mitchell Farnsworth, 62, was also determined to have committed a sexual offense with another victim in Spartanburg County, leading to him being charged on Sept. 25 with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree. , researchers said.

Farnsworth was placed under house arrest on Oct. 22, which he violated the next day, according to deputies.

While at the Child Advocacy Center, another victim reported being subjected to ongoing sexual abuse by Farnsworth last year, investigators said.

Farnsworth was also charged Nov. 7 with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Farnsworth is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center without bond.
