West Haven police investigating fatal stabbing at local bar

WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) – Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred at a bar early this morning.

Around 2:05 a.m. on Nov. 9, West Haven police officers received multiple 911 calls reporting a stabbing at the business in the 600 block of Campbell Avenue.

Police officers arrived at the scene and found a male victim with what appeared to be stab wounds to the front of his body.

According to witnesses, a possible suspect was seen leaving the bar in a vehicle heading north on Campbell Boulevard.

While it is thought that the incident may have started as a result of an argument between the victim and the suspect in the bar, the exact details are still being investigated.

West Haven Fire and Rescue crews arrived shortly after police and began performing life-saving measures on the victim.

Despite best efforts, the man was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

While the investigation was ongoing, the bar and its surroundings were secured by the authorities.

The West Haven Police Detective Division has assumed control of the investigation and detectives are working to gather more information and identify the suspect.
