Two men charged after ,000 stolen from safe at Hendersonville home

Hendersonville Police on Thursday responded to a burglary alarm at a residence where the back door was broken and $7,000 was missing from the safe inside.

According to authorities, security cameras showed a car near the home at the time of the incident, and a nearby license plate reader had detected the same vehicle shortly before.

Investigators traced the vehicle to 22-year-old America Pena, the former caretaker of an elderly resident who had recently moved out of the home. When questioned, Pena allegedly admitted to his involvement in the burglary and said he had committed a previous burglary when he was the caretaker of the same resident.

Further investigation led to 22-year-old Annie Saysombath, who allegedly confessed to authorities her role in the burglary.

Both Pena and Saysombath are charged with felony larceny, theft of property over $1,000 and vandalism. Pena will face an additional charge for the previous theft.
