Man charged after baby was treated for serious injuries at Launceston General Hospital

A 21-year-old man has been charged with assault under the criminal code after a seriously injured baby was taken to hospital.

Tasmania Police said officers attended Launceston General Hospital around 1pm on Saturday, where the baby was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A St Leonards man has been charged with criminal offenses and granted bail with strict conditions, police said.

He is expected to appear in Launceston Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
