Investigation continues into officer-involved shooting in Huntsville Twin Peaks

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Huntsville Police have now confirmed that the shooting at a popular restaurant was carried out by an off-duty police officer.

The 911 call was made just after 9:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Huntsville Police Chief Kirk Giles. Giles said the two groups got into an argument when someone opened fire. “During the argument, gunshots were exchanged,” Giles said. “There was an off-duty officer and this was also an officer-involved shooting.”

Witnesses told us they heard 4 to 5 gunshots and believed one of the victims was shot in the neck or upper chest. Witnesses claim the altercation may have stemmed from a college football game.

HEMSI’s Don Webster confirmed that one person was taken to Huntsville Hospital’s trauma center in critical condition. Three other people were also injured and are currently being evaluated.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is currently handling the investigation.
