Zunaid Ahmed Palak was hospitalized while in detention

Former minister of state for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) last night after he fell ill while in police custody.

Palak, who is currently detained in connection with a murder case in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area, is undergoing treatment at DMCH’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU).

The development was confirmed by Mohammed Faruk, assistant inspector at Dhaka Medical College police station. Faruk said he was brought in around 21:00 on Saturday after experiencing health problems while in custody.

Palak was arrested from Dhaka’s Nikunja residential area on August 14 by Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Police (DB).

He was initially sentenced to 10 days in prison as part of the investigation into the murder case registered at Jatrabari Police Station.

Since his arrest, Palak has been linked to several other cases.
