Two teenage suspects arrested for vehicle theft and assault in Oakville home invasion

Two 18-year-old suspects have been arrested in connection with a home invasion in Oakville. 16 charges have been laid against the two suspects and police are still searching for others who may have been involved.

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m., multiple suspects entered a home on Bellwood Avenue in Oakville by forcing open the home’s front door.

When the suspects proceeded towards the bedroom, they encountered an adult male demanding money. During the confrontation, the victim was struck in the head, face and upper body. The suspects managed to obtain the keys to a Mercedes sedan parked in the driveway. The suspects then stole the vehicle and ran away.

The victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of being beaten by the suspects, was taken to the hospital.

Members of the Two Precinct Criminal Investigation Bureau took over the investigation. As a result of the ongoing investigation, two suspects were arrested in Toronto on the afternoon of November 7, 2024, and the stolen Mercedes was recovered.

Oakville District 2 Commander Inspector Dave Costantini called the incident “Incomprehensible” and “Unreasonable.”

Jayden Batiste, 18, of Vaughan was charged with the following crimes:

  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Disguising with Intention
  • Fraudulent Use of Credit Card
  • Not Complying with the Evacuation Order

Batiste was held in custody until a bail hearing in Milton.

Dyante Johnson, 18, of Brampton was charged with the following crimes:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Robbery
  • Break and Enter
  • Ownership of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000
  • Escape from Legal Custody
  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Disguising with Intention

Johnson was held in custody until a bail hearing in Milton.
