One person died and two others were injured in a knife attack in a south London market

One person died and two people were injured in a knife attack in a market in south London. police I told you.

It was three people was attacked at East Street Market near Walworth Road in south London on Sunday morning, the Metropolitan Police said.

While one person died at the scene, two people, a woman and a man, were taken to hospital for treatment.

A person estimated to be in his 60s was detained at the scene and taken into custody.

Metropolitan Police Commander Peter Stevens said: “Tragically, a man lost his life this morning and officers are working hard to establish exactly what happened and provide support to his family. “My thoughts and sincere sympathies are with them and the other injured.

“Our investigation is at a very early stage. One person was detained in a short time by the police teams who intervened in the incident. Although the investigation continues, no one else is being sought.

“The incident is not considered terrorism. Investigations continue under the leadership of Crime Expert detectives.

“I would like to thank those who shared what they saw with police. I would urge anyone with information or footage, or any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, to get in touch.”
