Suspect who stabbed Shiners Boys arrested

A student linked to the murder at Shiners Boys High School in Nakuru was arrested hours after the incident, police said.

The student reportedly returned to school shortly after spending the night in Nairobi after allegedly stabbing a classmate during an argument.

Gilgil District Commander Winstone Mwakio said the suspect was found with several rolls of bhang in his jacket pocket.

The student had been expelled from a school in Nairobi before his parents found a vacancy at the Shiners.

Three suspected accomplices have also been arrested and are expected to serve as witnesses in the case.

Police in Gilgil, Nakuru County, were searching for the student who allegedly stabbed his classmate to death on Saturday night.

Officers said the incident occurred following an argument between students, police and other students.

Security officials also said that it was reported that the four candidates had a disagreement over personal belongings being destroyed at the school and the incident took place around 8 pm.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at Nakuru Level Six Hospital where he was rushed for treatment.

Mwakio said the suspects had previously been suspended from the institution but returned for exams and found their personal belongings destroyed and suspected the deceased may have been responsible for these actions.

While the police wondered how the killer knife was smuggled into the school, he expressed his concerns that the main reason for the incident was lack of discipline.

Mwakio explained that the main suspect fled with the knife before retreating and being arrested.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at Nakuru Referral Hospital. The body was taken to Nakuru morgue after autopsy.
