Houston-area boy dies in Grimes County ATV crash, sheriff's office confirms

PLANTERSVILLE, Texas (KBTX) -A teenage boy from the Houston area was killed in an ATV crash near Plantersville on Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.

Grimes County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the incident at Deep Forest Trail near Shape Road and County Road 208 at approximately 12:23 p.m., where they found the child suffering fatal injuries.

The boy’s family, who lived in the Houston area, was nearby at the time, according to Sheriff Don Sowell. The child was reportedly a Houston area student.

A second passenger, an older teenager, was reportedly on the ATV at the time, but authorities are unsure if the teenager was injured. DPS continues to investigate and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
