Madison man accused of sexually assaulting a minor

MADISON, Maine (WABI) – A Madison man is facing charges following an investigation into a sexual assault complaint.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint last month of sexual assault involving a victim under the age of 16.

As a result of the investigation, 63-year-old Michael Gallant faces two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor as well as two counts of unlawful sexual contact.

Gallant was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Somerset County Jail.

Authorities say he posted $10,000 bail on the condition that he have no contact with the victim, the victim’s family or anyone under 18.

Gallant is expected to appear in court again in February.
