Nakuru—A court in Nakuru dismissed cases against former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga and accomplice.

On Monday, November 11, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) filed an application seeking to withdraw all charges against Njenga and others.

In his ruling, Chief Justice Kipkurui Kibellion ordered the closure of the case against the former Mungiki sect leader, stating that the prosecution accepted that there was no evidence to support the case.

In his application, DPP Renson Ingonga stated that 20 witnesses who lined up to testify did not want to testify in court due to their relationship with the defendant.

Supporters of the former Mungiki leader chanted at the Nakuru Civil Courts after he was acquitted of criminal charges.
