Premier League referee suspended for insulting Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp

Premier League And Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL) rocked by controversy after referee suspension David Coote. The decision came after two leaked videos surfaced online. It shows Coote making offensive remarks about Liverpool F.C. and their former managers, Jurgen Klopp.

In the videos, whose recording date remains unknown, Coote can be seen making open criticisms of Liverpool and Klopp. In the footage, Coote can be seen talking candidly with another man in a private environment. He discusses his experience officiating Liverpool matches.

In the first video, which lasts over a minute, Coote answers a question about his experience as the fourth official in the Liverpool game: “Liverpool s….” Then he is asked: “What do you think of Jürgen Klopp?” Coote replied to this: “C-. PGMOL released an official statement addressing the issue: “David Coote has been suspended from duty with immediate effect pending the completion of a full investigation.. PGMOL will have no further comment until this process is completed.”

David Coote’s dispute with Liverpool

Leaked videos reference specific incidents involving Coote and Liverpool. In a clip, Coote talks about his role in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at Anfield in July 2020. During this match Klopp was visibly disappointed with Coote’s refereeing.
