Man who shot 61-year-old woman after car theft was arrested

Rochester, NY – A 25-year-old man is facing several charges after stealing a car on Jefferson Avenue.

Officers said around 11 p.m. on Oct. 5, a 61-year-old woman arrived at the hospital with at least one non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her lower body.

The victim reported that he was at a corner store on Jefferson Avenue when his friend’s vehicle was stolen.

When 25-year-old Shaiquon Reeves opened fire on the victim and the vehicle they were in, she, her husband and her friend reportedly followed the vehicle to Tremont Street. Officers said they found the stolen vehicle the next day.

Investigators identified Reeves as the suspected attacker and took him into custody on Remington Avenue on Nov. 8.

Reeves is charged with assault, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and grand larceny. He was also issued an extraordinary warrant for criminal impersonation and traffic-related charges.
