Shameful accusation of Chillspot Records – Nehanda Radio

Shameful accusation of Chillspot Records – Nehanda Radio

“Levels, Ribhe na Fantan” is a popular slogan in Zimdancehall music songs. But the three co-founders of Chillspot Records now have an embarrassing list of accusations that includes leaked tapes, domestic violence and rape allegations.

Chillspot producer DJ Ribhe’s appearance in the Harare Magistrates Court last week for allegedly raping a minor has extended the list of allegations leveled against the popular label over the past few years.

Ribhe found himself in the line of fire last week after it was revealed that he had not only drugged the 14-year-old Form Two girl but also raped her overnight while she was unconscious.

While the DJ is expected to appear in court again on November 14 to respond to these allegations, his case has only compounded the legal woes Chillspot has faced over the past few years.

In 2022, DJ Levels came under fire for revenge porn, then was accused of breaching sections of the Data Protection Act which bans the transfer of intimate images without consent. This was after a sex tape featuring her ex-girlfriend Shashl was leaked on social media.

Unable to persuade Shashl to reconcile with him following their breakup, the DJ allegedly threatened her with unspecified actions, saying she would regret her decision, leading to the belief that she had leaked the tape.

Shashl also accused her ex-boyfriend of rape, but he later retracted these allegations.

That same year, Chillspot boss DJ Fantan appeared in court for domestic violence.

A DJ who damaged kitchenware that his wife wanted to use to start her canteen business in Stodart, Mbare, Harare, has been charged with willful damage to property.

Allegations are that DJ Fantan began emotionally abusing his wife and left the house after damaging household items worth $250, including a teapot, cups, wine glasses, plastic plates, saucers and jugs.

The DJ flew into a rage because he allegedly wanted her to be unemployed and become a housewife.
