Plea filed before the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of bail granted to Kanhaiya Lal murder suspect

Plea filed before the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of bail granted to Kanhaiya Lal murder suspect

Lal was quoted as saying by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma during a television debate in 2022 about Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh). He was hacked to death by two attackers after sharing a message on social media supporting some controversial statements he had made against Muhammad.

Two assailants entered Kanhaiya Lal’s store in Udaipur in June 2022, pretending to be customers and attacked him with sharp knives. The attackers killed Lal and injured two others. Later, a video went viral in which the attackers justified the murder by chanting social slogans.

Javed, who worked in a nearby shop, was accused of passing on information regarding Lal’s whereabouts to the two main accused.

The Rajasthan High Court granted bail to Javed in September this year. This situation was objected to by the complainant before the Supreme Court.
