Suspect facing multiple charges in stolen goods investigation arrested

Wagoner County deputies and Rogers County deputies arrested a man in connection with a stolen property investigation.

On Oct. 5, deputies searched a home in Rogers County and found a truck and trailer in a field.

Serial numbers confirmed both were stolen.

Information obtained from the scene led deputies to another property, where they located a stolen zero-turn mower from Broken Arrow.

Thanks to new information obtained from recovered stolen items, deputies obtained suspicious information regarding the Wagoner County burglary that occurred at Sanders Child Care on October 4 and 5.

Deputies reviewed photos and videos and narrowed down to a residence near Coweta.

Authorities managed to locate one of the vehicles used by the suspect believed to have been involved in the theft.

On Oct. 7, Wagoner County deputies and investigators executed a search warrant in the Coweta area and found two vehicles used in the burglary.

A stolen welder was also recovered.

Investigators identified Nicholas Cotton of Inola as the suspect.

Cotton was taken into custody without incident by the Tulsa Police Department.

He was transported to the David L. Moss Detention Center and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and theft of merchandise from a retailer, according to the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

He also faces charges of grand larceny, theft and fuel theft.

WCSO said it suspects additional felony charges may be added for Wagoner County, Coweta and Rogers County.

Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott said: “I am very pleased with how much work and effort deputies and investigators put into this case. We were able to quickly identify a suspect and recover stolen property from multiple jurisdictions. As sheriff, my deputies will be able to track down criminals who victimized the Wagoner County community.” “They will continue to pursue it aggressively.”

WCSO said investigations are ongoing and additional suspects may be involved in the cases.
