My Plates online auction in Texas features 50 unique license plate messages

A unique auction is currently taking place in Texas, bringing in thousands of dollars in bids. And not for classic muscle cars or triple cherries that you know you can retail quickly and at high gross margins.

Instead, My Plates, the official dealer of specialty license plates in Texas, is auctioning a limited edition of 50 unique license plate messages and numbers as part of its 2024 Big License Plate Auction.

The online sale, which runs through next Wednesday, includes the opportunity to get simple words like “Winner,” “True” and “Burger” on a plate. There are also ones available for University of Texas and Texas A&M University fans.

“There are many fun and unique plate messages available in this auction, and they offer a great opportunity for Texans to purchase one as their official license plate,” said Steve Farrar, CEO and president of My Plates.

In a press release, the company highlighted some previous auction results, including:

—12THMAN sold for $115,000 in September 2013, making it Texas’ most expensive license plate message.

—HOUSTON Sold in January 2013 for $25,000.

—3 sold for $20,500 in May 2019.

—0001 sold in March 2022 for $27,500.

—ALAMO sold for $10,250 in March 2016.

—99 sold for $9,000 in April 2018.

—1969 sold in August 2017 for $5,250.

“The Grand License Plate Auction is a fun opportunity to showcase your love for a sport, activity or passion or give you the opportunity to personalize your vehicle with a rare license plate message,” the company said. “There are over 100 suitable My Plates Select background designs to choose from to showcase a winning plate message, including our new premium embossed designs.”
