Former New York Rep. Michael Grimm, who resigned following the scandal in 2015 and became a Newsmax host, was reportedly paralyzed after a riding accident.

Grimm represented Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn for New York in the United States Congress from 2011 to 2015, according to CBS.

He came under federal investigation in 2012 for his fundraising; which led to a 20-count indictment for mail fraud, wire fraud, health care fraud, and perjury; all of this involved a restaurant he owned and managed in Manhattan.

Although Grimm was re-elected to Congress in 2014, he later pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in New York federal court and resigned in 2015.

The former congressman spent eight months in prison and was released in 2016. He attempted a political comeback in 2018 but ultimately failed after losing in the primary.
